Shotcut is FREE. Yet to find a file format it cannot open. It plays the videos. Yes sometimes it crashes which is why I mistakenly thought that purchasing Movie Studio 15 Platinum on Steam would be better.I was wrong.Needs to be online to activate things that should already be part of the software as I HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR IT.For some reason it randomly cannot play videos that work fine with even the most basic of software.If you want to do video editing. This is not worth the money even on sale.. It's a good program for making high quality movies. For newbies it takes some time, to be able to use the program. If you took that time which is worth is, then you are able to make qualitiy videos by yourself easily and within short time. Downloading and installing via Steam was as usually easy and quick. I can work perfectly with it.Great value for money.. Pros: I bought it soon before it came out and got it for only $40 and a free copy of magix music studio with it! MUCH happier with the music program than this.Cons: Rendering is slow. Errors opening .mp4 and .avi. Effects given are numerous yet mostly useless. NO ADVANCED MASKING TOOLS. Random frames from videos jump to the beginning of clip and WILL show up in render, must be cut out. Tools could be easier.Otherwise a good software.7/10. Can't recommend. It's very slow, even at the simplest of tasks, like cutting a piece out of a video using the trimmer tool - one would think thats a base task for such a tool. I as a "hobby-video editor" already used a lot of different editing programs. First of all you have to get used to it of course. But the software is really userfriendly. And what I like most is that you have an infinite number of tracks and picture-in-picture effects. And rendering doesn't take too long! I am satisfied so far.. Absolutely great. I have a GTX 980 and using NVIDIA NVENC decreases the rendering times quite a bit. Loving the dark colours on the UI as it's easier on the eyes and everything is suitable for me to make internet/YouTube/Twitter videos to entertain my friends.When it's on sale for £31, it's such a good deal. Normal price is quite good too, especially in comparison to VEGAS PRO copies for £229 and up.. Good video editor, but crashes very often.
